ANTHONY SHEGOG

NRV AREA DIRECTOR

Anthony is an army kid, and after growing up in Hawaii, his parents made the move to Virginia, which set up the trajectory for his life. He started playing sports when he was six and always looked up to his older sister who ended playing in the WNBA. Anthony's coaches had a huge influence on who he became, and 20 years later, he still talks to many of his first coaches.

After playing college football and graduating from Virginia Tech, he always had the urge to help youth get to where he did. He started working at a youth sports ministry as a football and basketball coach and loved every minute of it. The joy on the kids face meant everything to him. He had the opportunity to see them grow both in their sport and life, and more importantly, he was able to preach the Word of God to them. After five years of being a football coach and mentor to middle and high schoolers, God opened a door with FCA to work with the same age group, at a bigger scale. Anthony is now back home as a Hokie, but this time, with his wife and sweet baby boy.

"I now have the opportunity to continue growing His Kingdom while staying around sports. Two aspect that I love about FCA."

Working at the youth ministry made God's calling on my life abundantly clear. My desire to continue reaching youth through sports and faith only grew and I knew it was time for a change. I prayed that God would direct me to where He wanted me, and He opened the door with FCA. I now have the opportunity to continue growing His Kingdom while staying around sports. Two aspect that I love about FCA, and I believe this organization can allow me to continue to do His will.
