Campus Director and VIRGINIA TECH Men's Basketball Chaplain
E.L. Smiling III is originally from Stafford Virginia and was a student athlete at Virginia Tech. He played football for the Hokies (wide receiver) and joined the ministry of FCA in 2014 as a chaplain for the men’s basketball team and campus rep. E.L. met his wife through the ministry of FCA and is now the Area Director on the Virginia Tech campus. He and his wife, Meghan have been married since 2019 and have one son, E.L. IV.

E.L. is passionate about FCA because of the impact it had on his life as a college athlete, and he's excited to see more and more lives transformed by Jesus Christ through the influence of coaches and athletes. There aren’t many things in life that teach us about character, faith, and God's Word better than sport. I’m grateful that God has called me into the lives of our coaches and athletes to use one of the most influential platforms in the world to bring Him glory!
